Artist: [livejournal.com profile] dizzojay
Beta: [livejournal.com profile] endlessevelina
American-English Proofer: [livejournal.com profile] 9tiptoes
Genre: Action, Hurt/Comfort
Pairings: Gen
Rating: R
Word Count: ~ 24,000
Disclaimer: Not mine, just playing in the sand box. Written for fun, not profit
Warnings: Violence, blood and gore, nudity, gladiatorial fight scenes, kidnapping, imprisonment, physical punishment, whipping, minor character deaths, hurt!Sam, hurt!Dean, major Dean!whump, non-explicit references to torture and rape in Hell
A/N: Set season six, between The French Mistake and …And then there were none.
Story is mostly canon compliant, although Sam and Dean find out about pureblood werewolves earlier than in canon. This story owes a debt of gratitude to the Angel episode The Ring…in case anyone thought it seemed a bit familiar!

Summary:
When Dean disappears after a hunt in Montana, Sam will stop at nothing to find him. As he tears up the Mid-west looking for answers, Sam learns that it’s not only hunters who are disappearing; monsters are being kidnapped too.

Meanwhile, Dean awakes to find himself locked in a cell. Being held captive sucks, but he knows his brother will come for him soon. Until that happens, all he has to do is kill monsters in an arena. In front of an audience. Wearing sandals and a leather skirt.

It’s not as much fun as it sounds.

Prompt:
Such a great set of prompts that I really had trouble picking just one. So…I’ve done a sort of hybrid mash-up of a few of them and done some thinking outside the box! I hope it works for you, [livejournal.com profile] sophiap.
Prompt 4: I would LOVE a Sam and/or Dean piece based on James McMurtry's "Too Long in the Wasteland."
Link to Song

With a little bit of:
Prompt 5: Decades or even centuries after they're gone, how are the Winchesters remembered?
And a wee bit of this one too:
Prompt 1:The boys get caught up in the aftermath of a natural or man-made disaster. There's no hunting things involved, but there's sure a lot of saving people. Or needing to be saved themselves?

Summary: The year is 2015 and Sam and Dean’s battle with the Mark of Cain is suddenly overshadowed by a series of catastrophic natural disasters that devastate the planet and irrevocably change life as we know it.

The year is… actually, Dean is damned if he knows. He stopped keeping track of shit like that after Sammy died. He’s just trying to make it through eternity one step at a time, only ever venturing out of the Wasteland to trade, and to listen to the stories people tell themselves about Before.

Another Hellatus! Ahhhhh!

Now that I've got that out of the way, I thought this episode was pretty solid.
Timothy Odmundson's performance as Cain was outstanding. He was frightening in a very other-worldly kind of way, and he looked good while doing it. :) I enjoyed Cas and Crowley and Rowena, because this week their stories were a part of Sam and Dean's story. Jared and Jensen knocked it out of the park, although I could've done with a little more of Sam. The scene where Dean admitted that he was scared, was it just me, or did that feel as if it had been cut? I felt like there should've been something more.

Anyway, I've tried something a little different this week. Just some snippets that I wanted to explore more. The POV changes part way through.

I have been truly loving all the magnificient coda/tag/missing scene fic that people have been doing for Season 10. It's such a fun way to explore our understanding of the Show's themes and plots and story arcs, as well as to delve further into the character's headspaces and to explore 'couldabeens'.  A lot of the stories have been deliciously dark and I have relished them all.

Start Somewhere by [livejournal.com profile] kcscribbler starts off with lots of hurt and ends up with lots of comfort and I didn't realise how much I needed this fic until I read it. If you haven't read it yet, go and give it a shot. You won't be sorry! :)

Summary: It's eight days before they actually speak to each other again. A mysteriously appearing marker board isn't the usual way of apologizing for a colossal screw-up like theirs; but then again, they are Men of Letters.

The reveals have now been posted for [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen, which means I can now claim my story!

This was my first time participating in this challenge and it was a lot of fun. I got an awesome prompt which I really enjoyed writing for. I have also decided that seeing as this challenge is called summergen, it is perfectly okay that I probably won't finish reading all the awesome fic this challenge generated until well into the Australian summer!

Title:
A momentary lapse of reason
Author: [livejournal.com profile] zara_zee
Recipient: [livejournal.com profile] themegalosaurus
Beta: [livejournal.com profile] 9tiptoes (Thank you as always! All remaining mistakes are my own.)
Rating: PG-13. Gen.
Word Count: ~3,700
Warnings: cynophobia, references to death and violence as depicted by Show, some swearing
Prompt:Although I realise that it was just the prelude to 40 years in Hell, and Sam's love for dogs is well-established in canon, it seems to me like Dean getting ripped apart by hellhounds might be quite a traumatic experience (if not for him then for Sam, watching him). Can you write a fic where Sam or Dean (or both I guess but I like hurt/comfort and if they're both going to pieces, I'm not sure how that would work) develops a fear of dogs as a result? You could link it to Yellow Fever (where Dean is afraid of that tiny little dog) but I'm not fussy: any time post-S3 finale. I'm a big Sam girl so nothing where Sam is horrible!

A/N: This story also fills the ‘phobias’ square on my H/C bingo card…

Summary: As soon as he shuts the motel door, Dean sags against it. It’s ridiculous that after everything he endured in Hell, after everything he did, he’s losing his shit over a goddamn dog. His shirt is stuck to his back, he’s still fucking shaking and there’s a pretty good chance he’s going to toss his cookies all over the puke-green carpet.

In the aftermath of Hell, Dean exhibits symptoms of cynophobia.

Chapter 5

The next few weeks were idyllic. Well, as idyllic as they got when you were working in a drop-in center for the homeless and spent your time dealing with drug addicts, people with mental health problems and child prostitutes. Still, Jared loved his job, loved that he got to really help people; to help them to make their lives better, even if only for a brief instant.

Chapter 2

Jared hadn’t meant to stay for a week. He hadn’t even brought any clothes. Not that it really mattered, because his old room was full of his old clothes. Most of the pants were a bit too short now, but he didn’t care; it wasn’t like he was going to go out in public in them.
