Here is Oz we've sprung into Spring (and the weather is just gorgeous!). The Northern Hemisphere has fallen into Fall and that's important because it means it's no longer summer and thus the
spn_summergen reveals have been posted!
There were so many brilliant entries this year. If you haven't checked them all out yet, do yourself a favour and head over to the comm! I had the good fortune to receive an amazing, inspiring set of prompts from
sophiap which really set the muse off and racing! Thank you for such wonderful prompts! And thanks also to
cassiopeia7 and
frozen_delight both of whom recc'd the story! Deb, your rec made my day...staying quiet and anonymous was hard! :D
So anyway, here is my entry:

Rating: PG-13
Word Count: ~11,000
Warnings: Dean-centric, immortal!MoC!Dean, swearing, violence, attempted assault, hurt!Dean, natural disasters, post-apocalyptic world, suicidal thoughts, major character deaths (with a happy ending!)
**Now also up at AO3 -- CLICK HERE**
Prompt: Such a great set of prompts that I really had trouble picking just one. So…I’ve done a sort of hybrid mash-up of a few of them and done some thinking outside the box! I hope it works for you,
sophiap.
Prompt 4: I would LOVE a Sam and/or Dean piece based on James McMurtry's "Too Long in the Wasteland."
Link to Song
With a little bit of:
Prompt 5: Decades or even centuries after they're gone, how are the Winchesters remembered?
And a wee bit of this one too:
Prompt 1:The boys get caught up in the aftermath of a natural or man-made disaster. There's no hunting things involved, but there's sure a lot of saving people. Or needing to be saved themselves?
Summary: The year is 2015 and Sam and Dean’s battle with the Mark of Cain is suddenly overshadowed by a series of catastrophic natural disasters that devastate the planet and irrevocably change life as we know it.
The year is… actually, Dean is damned if he knows. He stopped keeping track of shit like that after Sammy died. He’s just trying to make it through eternity one step at a time, only ever venturing out of the Wasteland to trade, and to listen to the stories people tell themselves about Before.

My Summergen Gift Fic is Awesome!!!!!
Jul. 17th, 2015 04:45 pmI am honoured and privileged to be 'first cab off the rank' in this year's Summergen Challenge and I absolutely LOVE my gift!
My mystery writer went with a mixture of my prompts: “Dean on a solo hunt while Sam is at Stanford, missing his brother, taking silly risks and running into trouble that he barely gets out of” and “Djinn-verse (WIAWSNB). Dean finds his way to hunting and to a better relationship with his brother” and came up with a spectacular Dean-centric fic featuring sad Dean on a Djinn-related hunt during the Stanford era, hurt!Dean and lots of brotherly feels. The writer also gave me a very well-balanced John (distracted, a little over-bearing, but loving) which I appreciated.
Summary: Stanford-era Dean goes on a near-disastrous djinn hunt, then makes an unexpected visit to Sam. Special appearance by young Rudy.
This was everything I could've hoped for in a gift and I hope everyone else loves it as much as I did! :)

Summergen Gift Fic -- Now Say Hello
Fic: A momentary lapse of reason
Oct. 23rd, 2014 10:49 pmThe reveals have now been posted for
spn_summergen, which means I can now claim my story!
This was my first time participating in this challenge and it was a lot of fun. I got an awesome prompt which I really enjoyed writing for. I have also decided that seeing as this challenge is called summergen, it is perfectly okay that I probably won't finish reading all the awesome fic this challenge generated until well into the Australian summer!

Author:

Beta:
9tiptoes (Thank you as always! All remaining mistakes are my own.)
Rating: PG-13. Gen.
Word Count: ~3,700
Warnings: cynophobia, references to death and violence as depicted by Show, some swearing
Prompt:Although I realise that it was just the prelude to 40 years in Hell, and Sam's love for dogs is well-established in canon, it seems to me like Dean getting ripped apart by hellhounds might be quite a traumatic experience (if not for him then for Sam, watching him). Can you write a fic where Sam or Dean (or both I guess but I like hurt/comfort and if they're both going to pieces, I'm not sure how that would work) develops a fear of dogs as a result? You could link it to Yellow Fever (where Dean is afraid of that tiny little dog) but I'm not fussy: any time post-S3 finale. I'm a big Sam girl so nothing where Sam is horrible!
A/N: This story also fills the ‘phobias’ square on my H/C bingo card…
Summary: As soon as he shuts the motel door, Dean sags against it. It’s ridiculous that after everything he endured in Hell, after everything he did, he’s losing his shit over a goddamn dog. His shirt is stuck to his back, he’s still fucking shaking and there’s a pretty good chance he’s going to toss his cookies all over the puke-green carpet.
In the aftermath of Hell, Dean exhibits symptoms of cynophobia.
