I thoroughly enjoyed episode 11.19. Really interesting, freaky MOTW and some nice character stuff. It also made me think a lot about love in all its various forms. As we all do, I have lots of head-canon around Sam and Dean and in my personal head-canon, Dean is bi-sexual. That head-canon and my contemplation about love led me to this coda...

I enjoyed the last episode. I've always loved Jodi and I've never minded either Alex or Claire. In last week's ep, I really liked all three of the women and the Sam and Dean we had was great, so I didn't feel ripped off in that regard or anything. Solid ep for me with bonus cooking and cleaning!

This week's coda was inspired by [livejournal.com profile] frozen_delight's glorious gifspam and associated conversations and the title was inspired by a conversation with [livejournal.com profile] kalliel (and others) about the difficulty of naming fics and writing summaries!  :D

Loved the last episode. It made me think about the stages of life, about what gives a life meaning and how that can change.

The resulting story is for [livejournal.com profile] frozen_delight, whose episode tags I always enjoy and with whom I share head-canon about Dean's status as a card carrying clean-freak.

A/N: Set season six, between The French Mistake and …And then there were none.
Story is mostly canon compliant, although Sam and Dean find out about pureblood werewolves earlier than in canon. This story owes a debt of gratitude to the Angel episode The Ring…in case anyone thought it seemed a bit familiar!

Summary:
When Dean disappears after a hunt in Montana, Sam will stop at nothing to find him. As he tears up the Mid-west looking for answers, Sam learns that it’s not only hunters who are disappearing; monsters are being kidnapped too.

Meanwhile, Dean awakes to find himself locked in a cell. Being held captive sucks, but he knows his brother will come for him soon. Until that happens, all he has to do is kill monsters in an arena. In front of an audience. Wearing sandals and a leather skirt.

It’s not as much fun as it sounds.

Now, see, I can't be having Sammy in the Cage.

Even if it's actually a small c cage of Rowena's creation. Nope. Uh uh. I mean, yes, the H/C fan in me is sort of rubbing her hands together, but...if Show's record on dealing with the Big Issues is anything to go by (Dean's Hell experience, Dean's alcoholism) then they'll give this some cursory treatment and then drop it like a hot potato and this time, they've actually got a lot closer to outright stating what might happen with the inneuendo than they usually do so...just...no. This is a Really Big Issue. Do it properly or leave it alone. Preferably the latter.

Don't get me wrong. I freakin' loved the episode. (And I love all the fabulous fic and meta that's come out of it too!) I'm just terrified of what's to come.

So this is sort of...sort of...a fixit fic...because I can't leave Sammy so powerless and vulnerable...

I always enjoy case based episodes and I like the old school creepy ones...and what is creepier than ghost possessed people in scary masks? The bunny was terrifying, as was the clown. I'm not a huge fan of Sheriff Donna, but she's starting to grow on me. She's hiding a lot underneath that chipper, darn tootin' mask.
Anyway, suffice to say I enjoyed the ep and I'm bummed that we don't get a new one this week. I guess that's because you're all too busy in America baking pie and stuffing turkey to watch television on Wednesday night? On which note, I hope my American Flisties have a wonderful Thanksgiving on Thursday...mmm turkey...

Another sensational episode. I haven't been this speculative since we all wondered what was wrong with Sam! Did I say that already? I may have. Anyway...if you're going to mess around with religions on your Show, you may as well go the whole way and really poke at it.
You know, like suggesting that the Deity of one of the bigger patriarchal religions on the planet had a sister who he betrayed and locked away...
After this episode I had to go and re-read [livejournal.com profile] kalliel's wonderful story Every Little Girl's Favorite, because it just fits so well into what seems to be becoming canon!

The episode left me so intrigued for what's coming next in Amara's storyline and wondering how Sam and Dean--two boys from Kansas-- fit into the bigger cosmic picture.

The only things I knew about 11.04 were...that it was called Baby and it was going to be told from the Impala's POV. For some reason, I interpreted this as 'Baby gets turned into a person' and I was quite nervous about the whole episode. Consequently, I spent the entire episode waiting with trepidation for Baby to turn into a person and was quite perplexed when that didn't happen! It wasn't until my second watch-through that I realised that practically the whole thing was filmed from inside the car! So then I had to watch it again.

This episode had pretty much everything I want from an episode, which caused me no end of trauma when trying to decide what to write about, because apparently my episode tags are either fix-it fics or that one scene I wanted but didn't get. What to write about when you get everything you wanted?

I considered writing about Dean's: "I'm not little, like I actually was when he taught me to drive", but I've read more than one excellent fic written by really talented writers that deal with Dean learning to drive when he was a little kid, so I decided against that. In the end I decided to write about Piper, for the simple reason that I thought her scene was shot through her gaze and I appreciated that. Also, I do wonder if she's going to turn out to be something more. I always remember that Ruby was initially presented to us as an insignificant hook up...

There were things that I enjoyed about this week's episode.

Visually, I thought it looked good. I liked the look and feel and think that Jensen did a good job directing.

I enjoyed Rowena. I like her character and I think that Ruth does a wonderful job with her. Her, "but I'm in heels" comment made me laugh out loud.

I continue to be intrigued by the Darkness and find myself mulling over the fact that Death described it as amoral...unaware of or indifferent to 'right' or 'wrong'. Crowley may find the Darkness far harder to manipulate than he anticipates.

Dean's shirt (you know the one) made me think of an episode of Angel, where Angel dressed very similarly and assumed the role of somebody's driver so that he could get close without being recognised.
And I liked him getting shot down by the blonde woman too.

The angel and the demon who walked into a bar..that amused me. But. I do hope that it doesn't become a thing. The rebel alliance. And suddenly they get their own story. [livejournal.com profile] twnchesterangel made the comment on [livejournal.com profile] cassiopeia7's journal that supporting characters are meant to support. And that's what I want to see. The supporting characters supporting Sam and Dean's story, not skipping off to the side with their own separate storyline.

I was pretty ho hum about Castiel's fairly quick and easy fix.I expected it,so there was no tension and they didn't do anything overly interesting with characterisation so, yeah. (Please Show, do something interesting with Castiel this season. There are possibilities this season, what with the Darkness and maybe even God getting involved. But see note above about supporting characters.)

And then Dean refused to let Cas heal him because he 'had it coming' and my heart shattered into a million pieces. Dean has a habit of breaking my heart and...I just couldn't stop thinking about Dean and that line. So of course, that's what I had to write about.

So episode 11.02 made me think more thinky thoughts and I am very keen to see episode three because it feels very much like last season, that the opening gambit is sort of a three ep arc.

Firstly, kudos to [livejournal.com profile] indiachick for correctly predicting the fire solution! I may have bemused my son by shouting Ha! Indiachick picked that! at my TV screen. :\

I really enjoyed smart!Sam and I'm interested in the Crowley/demons story line, and what's going on in the cage...especially given that Sam seemed to be having cage flashbacks. I have to say though, that the angel storyline didn't interest me at all this week. And that's a shame because with the Darkness coming back into the world, there's potential for the angels to become interesting again, provided they can integrate them back into the main storyline properly. Holding out hope for that to start happening next episode.

This week's coda is shamelessly self-indulgent, in that I wanted the brotherly talk that we didn't get, and it's also a wee bit speculative, in that I throw out some wacky theories because I'm intrigued and finding it fun to speculate!
